- School of Sanctuary
Here at Eastwood we want everyone to feel safe, welcomed and included. We're delighted to be the very first primary school in Keighley to be officially recognised as a School of Sanctuary.
A School of Santuary:
- Is a place of welcome for all
- Educates about why people are forcibly displaced
- Recognised that the UK is enriched by new arrivals
- Supports pupils from all backgrounds to feel seen, supported and included
Our Eastwood values
Being seen as a sanctuary is just one way we embrace our Eastwood values, particularly those of 'Care', 'Championing Children' and 'Community'. Our positive, respective and inclusive approach whereby we prioritise wellbeing and cultivate aspirations allows us to nurture happy, lifelong learners.
What Eastwood pupils have to say:
"I would introduce this school to my friend because she is from Egypt and when someone from a different country comes they would always support the person and encourage them to learn more.."
"this school is very good and all of the teachers are super nice to everybody. They treat everybody the same and care for us all. If anybody needs help the teacher will always be here."
What parents have to say:
"As a parent I can proudly say my children are cared for all the time and always valued. The staff are very friendly and always approachable."
"Eastwood is an exceptional place for my children to attend. The school’s integrity and values align with our values."
